- Do not press any buttons until you have completed a full circuit of your device.
- Select one of the following options if you are pairing up for the first time:
- Encrypt Backups
- Don’t Encrypt
Your sensitive information won’t be synced if you select the Don’t Encrypt Option. If you restore your device using your Mac, data may be lost.
- I’ve selected Encrypt backups.
- Create a passcode for your iPhone backup.
- Click Set password to continue.
- Do not open until your Mac has scanned the files on your device.
- Click Apply after you have finished the General menu.
- When prompted, select Sync to move your Mac to the same location as your iPhone or iPad.

Note You can do the same thing to sync Movies, Music and TV Shows from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch. Also, you can sync Photos, Files and Information.
