How to turn off Mac phone calls (temporarily or permanently)

I enjoy how easy it is to make and receive and turn off Mac phone calls from my iPhone while working on my Mac. However, there are moments when I want to be free of distractions and focus exclusively on my job.

If you’re anything like me, you’re in luck because in this post, I’ll show you how to turn off Mac phone calls, both temporarily and permanently.

How to temporarily turn off phone calls on the Mac 

• Click the Control Center icon in the Mac menu bar and select Focus.

• Click on “Do Not Disturb.”

Using Siri

• Launch Siri with the Launchpad. If you’ve configured Siri, you may also say “Hey Siri“.  
• When Siri has been listening to your command, you can say : “Turn off Do not disturb until tonight on my Mac.”
• Siri will confirm now that the feature is on.

You have successfully turned off the phone calls on Mac. However, this is a temporary fix. Please scroll down to find a permanent solution.

How to permanently turn off Mac phone calls 

• Launch the FaceTime app on Mac.
• From the menu bar, select FaceTime and then Settings.

• Select the General tab and uncheck the item next to Call From iPhone. 

Disable Mac phone calls permanently in iPhone Settings

• Open Settings on your iPhone
• Select Phone.
• Tap Phone Calls from Other Devices. – Turn off the toggle next to Your Mac’s Name.

FAQs

When I turn off Mac phone calls, what happens to calls that come in?
When you turn off Mac phone calls, your phone won’t ring when new calls arrive.. Your iPhone will still be able to accept calls, though.

Can I stop certain friends from calling me on my Mac?
There’s not a set way to stop Mac phone calls from going to certain friends, which is a shame. But turning off Mac calls also turn off Mac phone calls.
